New York – On June 10, 1924, Giacomo Matteotti was kidnapped and murdered. 90 years later, on June 2 the Casa Italiana Zerilli- Marimò in New York will host a meeting with Mauro Canali of the University of Camerino, and Spencer Di Scala of the University of Massachusetts Boston. Matteotti’s murder marked the end Mussolini’s “legalistic” administration: after his death, Italy became a full-fledged dictatorship and a model for totalitarianism in Europe. With the creation of the Brigade Matteotti, who fought along the Anglo-American forces in the liberation war, Matteotti’s views on democracy and the liberal state became a symbol of the Resistance.
