June 12 – A journey to discover the small religious community in the Sicilian town of Corleone: this is “Rinnovati,” the project by Sicilian photographer Gabriele Lentini on display in St Petersburg at the Museum of the History of Religion from June 20 to July 20. The exhibition, organized with the Italian Cultural Institute, includes forty black and white images of the historical community, the renewed life of the Franciscans who transformed a medieval prison in a place for prayer against the mafia. “It’s an extreme life in the eyes of the common man – says the author – but there is great joy and serene brotherhood in their eyes, which leads them to discover the true meaning of faith.”
