June 13 – “Su Re” is a feature film directed by Giovanni Columbu on the Passion of the Christ, set in Sardinia. It will be screened – in the Sardinian dialect with Italian subtitles – on Monday, June 16 to 7pm at the Italian Cultural Institute in Vienna. The director, born in Nuoro 65 years ago, and author of short films such as “Visos”, “Dialogues cross” and “Villages and villages,” will be present and will explain to the public his latest work, released last year by Sacher Distribuzione. In “Su Re,” the Passion of Christ “is transposed in Sardinia, much like the works of Renaissance painters who represented the episodes narrated in the Gospel by setting them in their own time and period. In the film, the story begins and ends in the tomb where Mary weeps over the body of her Son. Everything has already happened, but the facts are memories and dreams of the various characters.” The meeting in Vienna – which will come to an end with a buffet of Sardinian specialties – was sponsored by the Italian Cultural Institute in Vienna in cooperation with the Institut für Romanistik der Universität Wien. Mattu Fiorenzo, in the role of Jesus, Pietrina Menneas, as Mary, and Paolo Pillonca, as Pontius Pilate, star in the film.
