Islamabad – Adriano Chiodi Cianfarani, Italian ambassador to Pakistan, presented, on behalf of the President of the Republic, Luca Maria Olivieri and Fazal Dad Kazar with the Stella D’Italia. Olivieri, at the head of the archeology mission in the Swat Valley in Pakistan nella Valle pachistana dello Swat, and Fazal Dad Kakar, former director of the Archeology Department of Pakistan, received the award for their “exceptional results in their bilateral cultural relations.” The ceremony was also the occasion to celebrate Italy’s archeology projects in Pakistan, which date back to the 1950s.
