July 9 – Another international recognition for research carried out at the University of Parma: Paolo Colombo, Professor of Pharmaceutical Technology, was awarded the Founders Award 2014 by the Controlled Release Society. The award testifies to the excellence of Colombo’s contribution to the science and technology of drug release control. Colombo is the first researcher from an Italian university to receive this recognition, which three years ago had been assigned to researcher Mauro Ferrari, who works in Houston. “The control of drug release increases the patient’s response to pharmacotherapy and is a strong innovation element for the drug industry.” The award will be presented in the coming days during the CRS World Congress of Chicago, during which Colombo will hold a lecture on his research entitled “From Swelling Restriction to Module Assemblage in Oral Drug Release Control.”
