July 30 – A picnic in the garden to discover Italian gastronomic treasures, art, culture and entertainment. The Italian Institute of Culture in Montréal – in collaboration with Petite Italie – is promoting the second edition of “Opera in the Garden” with “Les Rendez-vous du Cinéma Italien”, a retrospective dedicated to the Italian cinema. “Opera in the Garden” will take place in the garden of the IIC, where “The Barber of Seville” (August 13) and “Nabucco” will be screened. Both screenings will be presented in their original version with Italian subtitles, to encourage those who wish to have a correct understanding of the Italian lyrics. After each film, the Institute will choose at random spectator, who will be awarded a pair of tickets to attend the “Nabucco” or “The Barber of Seville” at the Opéra de Montréal on either September 20, 23 , 25 and 27 or November 8, 11, 13 and 15, respectively. The Italian Cultural Institute of Montreal will also offer to all its guests – before the start of each screening – the chance to taste typical Italian products. The Gardens opens for the public at 7:30pm.
