(Aug. 7) The Urbesoil project, which sees the participation of researchers from the ENEA and University of Novi Sad kicks off to study the mobility of potentially toxic elements in urban areas. Approved by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Urbesoil is part of a scientific-technical cooperation agreement between Italy and Serbia, and is one of the “Grande Rilevanza” projects that the Ministry is financing on the basis of international agreements with different countries. “The urban environment, due to vehicular traffic and heterogeneous missions related to human activity (industry, commerce, building heating) – according to Enea – represents one of the main sources of contamination and, at the same time, an area of accumulation for the same pollutants that, in association with the particulate air pollution, are easily inhalable and represent a potential danger to the public”.
