(Aug. 11) Umbria’s exports registered, in the first three months of 2014, grew by 3.1% in the iron and steel industry, with the Perugia Province increasing its sales abroad by 7.6%. The data is all the more surprising considering that national exports, which amounted to €96 billion, fell by 1.5% in the same period. “The picture in the first quarter of 2014 reinforces the expectations of a successful exit from the crisis, especially in that part of the production system that can compete on international markets. This is also considering that we give our best performances when we act as a regional system with prospects of productive specialization,” said the regional councilor for economic development Vincenzo Riommi. “Within the 2014-2020 EU strategy – says councilor – we will promote and internationalize so as to consolidate what has been achieved so far and facilitate growth and development. In terms of internationalization, we will articulate policies in two directions: the diffusion of services that promote business access to international; and the promotion and support of clusters and business networks to help approach new markets.”
