Aug. 20 – The 1954 Ferrari 375 MM Scaglietti Coupé was recently awarded the “Best of Show” award, the most prestigious prize at the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance, held on the famous golf course in Carmel, California. Director Roberto Rossellini first bought the car for 4 million lire in August 1954, even though it was originally conceived as a competition car with rigorously red paint and barchetta bodywork. It’s the twelfth exemplary of the total fifteen 375 MM, Rossellini used it on the road and reached Sweden in it alongside his wife, Ingrid Bergman. The vehicle, after an accident that seriously damaged the front, was sent to the Carrozzeria Scaglietti in Modena. The event was the perfect occasion for Rossellini and Scaglietti to get together and create a new coupe body, with a series of innovations (such as the front fenders that anticipated the lines of the Testa Rossa) and a silver coating made 0402AM an absolutely unique model.
