Aug. 28 – Reggio Emilia’s businesses face the crisis and strengthen their international vocation, bringing a breath of fresh air to Italy’s economic situation. The latest analysis from the research department of the Reggio Emilia Chamber of Commerce stressed the good results of the second quarter of 2014, which were however somewhat less brilliant than those registered during the first three months of the year. Reggio Emilia manufacturing industry, after the +1.4% registered for January-March, continues to increase its exports (+0.9% for the April-June quarter) with ameliorated economic indicators compared to last year. There was a 0.1% increase in terms of total orders (even though the domestic market registers a -0.1%); revenue growth increased by +3.6 % and foreign orders by +3%. “The main difficulties for our companies, and especially those which are less export-oriented – explained Stefano Landi, president of the Chamber of Commerce – have not changed, but it is certainly encouraging that there is finally a recovery in foreign orders, a sign that our businesses are competitive on international markets.”
