Kamenge – It could have been a robbery gone wrong, but the only certain fact for now is that two Xaverian missionaries in Kamenge covent lost their lives. The news that a third sister had been killed was confirmed by the Italian Foreign Affairs Ministry this morning. The nun, said one of her sisters, was the victim of a separate incident from that in which the first two had been killed. The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Federica Mogherini, expressed “great sorrow” for the deaths. “Once again – continues Mogherini – we witness the sacrifice of those who spent their lives alleviating the sufferings of others. We are now waiting for the Burundian authorities to clarify what happened, and we are working to bring back the remains of the two women.” (9Colonne)
