London – Researchers at the University of Modena and Reggio Emilia have become Italian partners for the European Digital Kitchen project, which has built a prototype of a smart kitchen that can teach foreign languages. LanCook proposes an original method to learn a language in which the student, experimenting in the preparation of traditional recipes, listens and communicates with the kitchen and its utensils, putting to the test much more than his or her skills in the kitchen. During the 3 years of research, 5 European teams were involved, including for Italy Gabriele Pallotti, Professor of Modern Languages Didactics, and his team, and Dr. Natacha Niemants of the Department of Education and Human Sciences at the University of Modena and Reggio Emilia. Together, they developed a prototype which is composed of a tablet equipped with a program that loads the recipes in seven languages. (9Colonne)
