Amsterdam – Enel Green Power picked up another prestigious prize at the recent 29th European Photovoltaic Energy Conference and Exhibition, where it won an award in the PV application category for the visual presentation of its hybrid plant in Ollagüe, Chile. The Ollagüe facility, which is scheduled to be completed in November, will combine a 200kWp PV solar plant, a 30 kilowatt vertical axis wind turbine and a 250kW/520 kilowatt-hour sodium nickel chloride energy storage system. The facility will bring huge benefits to the villagers, who up to now have had no electricity at night. These advanced systems will enable the village to be powered by renewable energy 24 hours a day for almost the whole year, limiting the use of the pre-existing electrical generator to special cases during the winter months.
