Oct. 15 – What unites and differentiates the Festival de l’Imaginaire in France, the Festival du Monde Arabe in Quebec and the Notte della Taranta in Italy? The answer will be reveiled on Monday Oct. 27 and Tuesday Oct. 28 during a seminar and a roundtable hosted at the University of Montreal and the Cultural Centre Dar Al Maghrib. “A Comparative Approach to World Music Festivals in France, Italy and Quebec: a study of three” is the focus on the two initiatives. With the sponsorship of the Festival du Monde Arabe and the support of the Italian Cultural Institute in Montreal, the two events intend to reflect on the strategies of music programming in three different contexts, focusing on the role of festivals as meeting places and intercultural dialogue.
