Oct. 17 – The mastermind behind Sandokan, Janez, Morgan the pirate, and the Black Corsair, whose adventures enthralled children and adults for decades, is Emilio Salgari. Remembered abroad for his rich and creative fictional production, the Italian Embassy in Paraguay and the Cultural Center El Cabildo are collaborating with the Dante Alighieri Society in Asuncion to organize an exhibition of his works. The event, which opens Oct. 20 at 7pm at El Cabildo features large reproductions of the best illustrations of Salgari’s works from the late 19th-early 20th century, illustrated books from the 1960s, videos from the RAI series on Sandokan, as well as naval instruments and ancient weapons.
