Oct. 22 – The University of Modena and Reggio Emilia “exports” its talent and creativity, research and passion abroad. Six students of the Department of Engineering Sciences and Methods of the University are taking part in a pilot project, coordinated by the CERN in Geneva, on a course in “CBI – Challenge Based Innovation”. Now in its second edition, the course is part of an education program on innovation, through which it intends to mainstream the technology developed within the CERN facilities into everyday life. Overall, the course sees the participation of 45 students from Aalto University (Finland), the European Design Institute (Spain), the ESADE Business School (Spain), Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (UPC) (Spain ), the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (Norway), and the Swinburne University (Australia). The University of Modena and Reggio Emilia is the only Italian university to participate in the project. “We are always very pleased – said prof. Eugenio Dragoni, Director of the Department of Engineering Sciences and Methods – to offer our students opportunities for international partnerships. These are unique occasions in which they may experience research projects, from design to development of the final prototype, in interdisciplinary contexts. These programs also take into account the potential for the local industrial and entrepreneurial systems, that may employ competitive and skilled professionals.” The Italian team is made up of six students this year, all coming from different disciplinary backgrounds, including physics, design and information technology.
