Nov. 4 – Today, Bratislava opens its gates to the “Nu Dance Fest”. The international dance festival will remain in the Slovak capital untill Sunday; but tonight, the Nanou group will officially kick off the festivities with a performance by Marco Valerio Amico and Rhuena Bracci, founders of the group. The dance company from Ravenna is known for blending visual, choreographic, theatrical and special effects. Tonight, in Bratislava’s A4 (Karpatská 2) they will stage “Anticamera,” the third act of the “Progetto Motel” trilogy – one of the Group’s most acclaimed shows. “Anticamera” is inspired by Godard and Lynch’s cinema, and develops across Hopper’s hyper-realistic paintings. On stage, dynamism moves from the creation of tableaux vivants to moments of great athleticism. Anticamera, or antechamber, is not the beginning but the end, evoking a circular and fragmented movement of time. Everything takes place outside of a linear narrative, and rather proceeds by leaps and suggestions, just like in a dream. Light and sound – brought by Sajiz Fabio and Roberto Rettura – become tools to imagine the drama that takes place in another place offstage. The performance of the Group is organized by the Italian Cultural Institute in Bratislava, the Nu Dance Fest, with the collaboration of the Ministry of Culture and the Emilia Romagna Region. (red)
