Erbil – Erbil, in the Iraqi Kurdistan province, recently hosted a delegation of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the Lower House of Parliament, comprised of President Fabrizio Cicchitto, Maria Chiara Carrozza (Pd), Mario Marazziti (Pi) and Mary Edera Spadoni (M5S). “The delegation – said the Lower House in a statement – attended meetings with institutional and political actors, but also asked to visit the camps hosting the displaced Christians and Yazidis who survived the Isis massacres. The delegation also visited representatives of the Chaldean Christian community. In particular, the delegation met with the President of Parliament, the Minister of Peshmerga, the Chief of Staff of the president of the Kurdish Region, and the leader of the largest party in the coalition government, the PUK. They also held meetings with the President of the Nineveh Province, with the Patriarch of the Christian-Chaldean Church and with the Chaldean archbishops of Mosul and Erbil.” (9Colonne)
