Nov. 5 – “On Stage! Italian Theatre Festival NY” is the first festival of Italian theater to involve all five New York City boroughs. Following the success of the first two editions, the Festival is now accepting submissions for the third edition, scheduled for May 4-20 2015. The event will take place in various locations in the borough (Manhattan, Brooklyn, Queens, Staten Island and The Bronx) as well as other towns outside New York. The call for submissions closes on December 15, and is divided into three sections: Plays; Readings; and the Premio Mario Fratti. The first category includes Italian plays that have never been staged in New York; the second features a series of texts from Italian authors translated and presented for the first time in New York. The Mario Fratti Award honors instead a new Italian play, which will be presented in the reading part of the Festival. The submissions should – in the broadest sense – be representative of Italian culture, including local elements and dialects. The selection will be completed by the end of January 2015. (Red)
