Nov. 17 – The Regional Museum of Natural Sciences of Turin is organizing, from tomorrow until Saturday, the international meeting on the conservation of amphibians in Ranomafana National Park, Madagascar. “Acsam2,” A Conservation Strategy for the Amphibians of Madagascar, prepared by Franco Andreone, zoologist at the Regional Museum of Natural Sciences of Turin, takes place eight years after the first edition and will be attended by over 70 researchers from around the world. Its objective is to establish amphibian conservation measures for the next decade. The international meeting was planned and coordinated by the Zoology Section of the Regional Museum of Natural Sciences of Turin within its study, education and outreach activities conducted in the past 25 years in Madagascar. Said activities led to the creation of a rich herpetological collection, the description of more than 30 new species of amphibians and reptiles, and the publication of a national Action Plan. The event will be presented this afternoon at the Department of Life Sciences and Biology Systems of the University of Turin, by Andreone, Cristina Giacoma (professor in the Department) and Roberto Sindaco (Vice-President of the Societas Hepretologica Italica).
