Nov. 28 – It’s been 90 years since the death of Giacomo Puccini and the diplomatic-consular network in Turkey celebrates the great Italian composer with two events, one in Ankara and one in Istanbul as part of initiatives for the Italian Presidency of the European Union. The first will take place in Ankara on December 4, when the Italian Embassy will present at the residence of Gianpaolo Scarante to Turkish authorities, other diplomats and an audience of fans the Tuscan master’s work “Gianni Schicchi”. This will be the first performance of a Puccini opera at the Italian Embassy in Ankara. The second event will be in Istanbul, when on December 12 the Theater of the House of Italy will stage a show in collaboration with the local Italian Cultural Institute. (Cle)
