Cairo – Cooperation between Italy and Egypt has been strengthened, thanks to the signing, in recent days, of the joint statement on technical military cooperation. The declaration is the first step towards the signing of an intergovernmental agreement in the field of defense; the statement, which focused on the areas of education, training and border control, was signed by Minister Roberta Pinotti and her Egyptian counterpart, General Sobhi. The agreement concretely kicks off those cooperative activities identified during the official visit of Minister Pinotti in Egypt, which took place last November. During the meeting, the two ministers discussed potential scenarios of regional crises, particularly with respect to Libya and the state of bilateral defense cooperation between the two countries.
