Jan. 7 – How can we make the right choice? Francesca Gino, a successful woman in her thirties, tries to explain it in a book. She managed to make the best decision and – thanks to her talent, ambition and effort – from Trento she moved to Cambridge, Massachusetts, reaching important goals, and becoming Italian excellence in the world. Francesca Gino, after graduating in economics with honors from the University of Trento, completed her Ph.D.in Economics and Management at the Scuola Superiore Sant’Anna of Pisa. After the first year at the Sant’Anna, she was a visiting student at Harvard University in 2004, where she received a PhD in Economics. She now teaches business administration at the University of Harvard, where she worked as an affiliated professor. Her research investigates the mind, brain, action, and behavior. In her latest book – entitled “La scelta giusta,” released in 2013 – Gino tried to understand how men and women react to external stimuli and make their own decisions. Of all this, and new migration waves, research, and professional statements, Francesca Gino will talk on Thursday, January 8 at 4:30pm in Trento (at the Belli Hall of the Palace of the Province, in Piazza Dante). The occasion is a conference organized by the Councilor for Equal Opportunities on “Work and new opportunities: a woman’s success story,” devoted to Francesca Gino. Originally from Tione (Trento), winner of the award “Cumming scolary Word” attributed to young researchers, and winner in 2014 of a prize delivered from the Italian Consulate in Boston to the young promises of the Italian expat community, the scholar will speak of her work: her research focuses on judgment and decision making, negotiation, ethics, motivation, productivity and creativity. Her research has been published in psychology and business management magazines. Her studies were presented in The Economist, The New York Times, Newsweek, Scientific American, Psychology Today, and the Wall Street Journal. Besides teaching, Francesca Gino is an adviser for profit and non-profit organizations in the field of negotiation, decision-making and organizational behavior. (PO / Gil)
