Jan. 28 – “Las ciudades italianas del Gran Tour” (“The Italian cities of the Grand Tour”) is the focus of a conference with Professor José María Barrios Castro (classical philologist and professor at the IES Pablo Neruda of Leganés), planned for February 19 at the Italian Cultural Institute of Madrid (7.30pm). The event is part of the first edition of the Festival “El viaje y sus culturas” (“Travel and its cultures”), scheduled in Madrid at the Centro Cultural Conde Duque, February 16-28. “Traveling to Italy – confirms a presentation statement from the Institute – has become, since the middle of the 17th century and especially during the 19th century, the great adventure of the wealthy European Youth, mainly from the UK. The so-called Grand Tour was a long training trip on the origins of classical culture touching cities like Rome, Naples, Florence or Venice.”
