Feb. 12 – Maestri embodies Sir John once again, for another sure success. After the triumph of his Falstaff in Florence, directed by Ronconi last November, after the thunderous 20-minutes applause at the Teatro Municipal in Sao Paulo, Brazil, and after the triumph last September at the Teatro Colon in Buenos Aires, the Italian baritone Ambrogio Maestri brings Giuseppe Verdi’s last masterpiece to Munich, where he performs today at the Bayerische Staatsoper. Conducted by Asher Fisch and directed by Eike Gramms, Maestri comments “by now, with over 250 Falstaff performances behind me, I can say that Sir John has become my life partner; a mirror in which I see reflected my human and artistic sides, as well as the evolution of my interpretation. He is a character that somehow represents my conscience.” Maestri will take the stage in Munich also on Feb. 14, 17 and 19.
