London – Italy has a new top player, announced today by the WTA. The first Italian female tennis player is Sara Errani who, thanks to the success in Rio de Janeiro (the eighth in her career), earns four positions and reaches number 12, bypassing Flavia Pennetta, who slipped in 16th place. Camila Giorgi also loses a position (n. 32), Roberta Vinci remains stable (n. 38), and Karin Knapp gains one position (n. 57). Francesca Schiavone remains stable (n. 72), closing the Italian female group of the top 100.
