Mar. 5 – And the winner is… Astrosamantha. For International Women’s Day, the search engine Bing and MSN – the information and entertainment platform from Microsoft – invited their users to celebrate Italian excellence, responding to an online poll to elect the person who most embodies and represents our country abroad: from sportsmen to bloggers, passing by austronauts and movies stars, MSN and Bing selected six profiles of women who bring Italy to the world. after 3,000 people responded to the survey, the first place, with 41% of the votes, goes to astronaut Samantha Cristoforetti, who is spending six months in the International Space Station as part of the Futura mission of the Italian Space Agency. The ranking, created to celebrate March 8th, places actress and model Monica Bellucci second, for fully embodying the prototype of Mediterranean charm, with 23% of the votes. In third place, there’s singer Laura Pausini with 22% of the votes: her international fame built over the past twenty years thanks to 10 studio albums, 3 live albums and 2 collections, selling over 70 million records worldwide. The second half of the standings kicks off with the tennis champions Sara Errani and Roberta Vinci, two athletes with victories in 25 WTA tournaments, in fourth position with 7% of the votes. Fifth is Miuccia Prada, the fashion designer and businesswoman who turned Prada in one of the most renowned global fashion houses, with 5% of the votes. Only 1% of the voters go to Chiara Ferragni, Italian 28-year-old fashion blogger that earns $8 million a year thanks to her blog.
