Mar. 17 – “The Garden of the Finzi-Continis” comes back to life thanks to a special cooperation between the film and fashion universes. Vittorio De Sica’s masterpiece, inspired by Giorgio Bassani’s novel, won the Academy Award for Best Foreign Film in 1972, and is back on screens worldwide in a new and improved version. The film was digitally restored thanks to the Antony Morato fashion brand, the Istituto Luce Cinecittà and L’Uomo Vogue on the occasion of the 70th anniversary since the liberation of the Auschwitz camp. The collaboration is of great value, particularly for the Luce-Cinecittà for the close relationship between historical memory and great cinema, in which the latter reinforces the former with strength and beauty. This is the case of the film that puts into images the repercussions of racial laws in Italy and the tragedy of deportations, through a fresco of intimacy and emotions that still speak to viewers around the world. The film, restored in the Cine Studio laboratories in Rome and L’immagine ritrovata in Bologna, will be screened in its world premiere on March 25 at the Casa del Cinema in Rome before being presented around the world: in London, Toronto , New York, San Francisco and Israel.
