Mar. 20 – Soleterre and Ai.Bi., Italian NGOs active in Ukraine for the past 10 years, launched an appeal to the Italian cooperation world to create a consortium to act and improve the serious socio-sanitary situation prevailing in the Eastern European country. Despite the gravity of the situation – comment the NGOs – the reaction of the international community is inadequate and aid is slow. Although UNOCHA’s Humanitarian Response Plan has estimated $316 million in funds to restore decent living conditions, to date only $37 million have been delivered. Soleterre and Ai.Bi., both active in Ukraine with projects dedicated to child care and support, decided to create a consortium to bring aid to the country in a coordinated and effective manner, and have launched an appeal to other Italian associations and NGOs. The goal is to act with integrated interventions that allow to maximize effectiveness, essential to compensate for the weak response and poor timeliness of aid. Soleterre and Ai.Bi. invited the Italian public – its institutions, citizens, and businesses – to mobilize and support the actions and projects in favor of Ukrainian citizens, victims of a terrible conflict that is taking place in the heart of Europe.
