Mar. 24 – As part of the exhibition “I-talents”, the Italian Cultural Institute of Budapest is proud to present the Quartetto di Cremona (Cristiano Gualco and Paolo Andreoli on violin; Simone Gramaglia on viola; and Giovanni Scaglione on cello). The group is set to perform, at the Institute on Monday, March 30 (at 7pm), the Langsamer Satz by Anton Webern, the Quartet Op. 77/1 by Franz Joseph Haydn, and the String Quartet Op. 130 with Great Escape by Ludwig van Beethoven. The Cremona Quartet was founded in 2000 at the Accademia Stauffer of Cremona, performing with Piero Farulli of the Italian Quartet and Hatto Bayerle of the Alban Berg Quartett, quickly becoming one of the most interesting ensembles on the international scene. Since 2011, the Quartet is “artist in residence” at the Quartet Society of Milan and has been chosen as the face of “Friends of Stradivari”. In 2015, the Quartet is set to finish recording the complete quartets by Beethoven for the German label Audite. Cristiano Gualco plays a Nicola Amati violin (1640), Paolo Andreoli a Paolo Antonio Thestor violin (ca. 1758), Simone Gramaglia a Gioachino Torazzi viola (ca. 1680), and Giovanni Scaglione a Don Nicola Amati cello (1712).
