Warsaw – Another year comes to an end for national dairy exports, with a record €2.2 billion and a quantity of more than 331.000 tons shipped across national borders. Compared to 2013, ISMEA calculations on Istat data reveal that there was an increase of 3.3% in quantity and 4.8% in value, despite the fallout from the Ukraine crisis almost halved shipments to Moscow, and the strong euro still not favoring purchases in the US (-5.7% in volume compared to 2013). A new stimulus, says the Institute, has come instead from Eastern European markets, particularly Poland, the Czech Republic and Romania; all destinations to which Italian exports grew in volume by 18%, 9%, and 22%, respectively. Albeit a still scarce market share, interesting volumes were registered in China (+ 41%), South Korea (+ 26%) and the United Arab Emirates (+ 28%). (9colonne)
