Apr. 20 – “Accabadora” is the Campiello 2010 Prize-winning novel authored by Sardinian writer Michela Murgia. “Accabadora” means “the one who ends” in Sardinian; the term gives the title to the book that tells the story of old Bonaria, young Mary and the special bond that brings them together in a Sardinia where life and death are never individual dimensions. The characters of the novel will be at the center of attention in Bratislava, on occasion of the “Night of Literature” – scheduled for Wednesday, May 13 – as Slovak actress Zuzana Fialová will read fragments of the book (translated into Slovak by Miroslava Vallová and published by Slovart in 2014). The Festival “Night of literature” this year reaches its seventh edition. Its goal is to bring contemporary European writers to the general public through readings in locations that are not usually related to literature. Starting at 6pm, in 30-minute intervals (15 minutes of reading, and 15 minutes to move), the various key areas of the historical center will host readings by well-known Slovak actors of selected texts by authors from various cultural institutions. The “Night of Literature” is a nation-wide event held simultaneously in other Slovak cities (Senec, Trnava, Trenčín, Žilina, Banská Štiavnica, Košice, Modra, Bardejov, Nitra, and Dolny Kubin). The Festival is organized by České Centrum, Anasoft litera in collaboration with the Italian Cultural Institute, the Goethe Institut, the Institut Français, the Ruské centrum vedy, the Österreichisches Kulturforum, the Instytut Polski, the Institutul Cultural Român, the British Council, and the Ambassade van België.
