London – Gianni Piacentino, 70-year-old artist from Turin, is exhibiting his works until June 20 at the Michael Werner Gallery in London. The event, curated by the director of the Geneva Center for Contemporary Art, Andrea Bellini, traces Piacentino’s career. The artist is a founding member of Arte Povera, and had his artistic debut in the mid-sixties, creating vehicle prototypes with industrial materials, sculptures from basic geometric shapes made of wood and plastic, and developing, in parallel, an original idea of painting. His works are featured in the permanent collections of the Gallery of Modern Art in Turin, the Museum of Reggio Emilia, the Power Institute of Fine Arts in Sydney (Australia), the National Gallery of Berlin, and the Neuen Museums Weserburg, Bremen (Germany).
