Apr. 30 – Dylan Dog fans won’t be disappointed by the opportunity to meet the Puglia talent that has become an essential part of the history of Italian comics. Angelo Stano will be at the 17th edition of the International Comics Festival of Stockholm, scheduled for May 9-10. This year’s festival is focused on the theme of freedom of expression. Recently, comics and cartoons have become – especially after the Charlie Hebdo attack in France – a symbol of freedom of thought. And so the Festival in Sweden has become the occasion to reflect and debate on the issue. The event will also give the opportunity to learn of great masters and young talents. The Italian Institute of Culture in Stockholm highlighted how in 1973 Angelo Stano made his debut in comics drawing with “From the Earth to the Moon” by Jules Verne, scripted by Roberto Catalano and published by Editrice Sole for Francesco Paolo Conte. After several collaborations with other publishers in the industry, in 1985 Sergio Bonelli Editore chose Stano to join the team that draws the character created by Tiziano Sclavi, Dylan Dog. Dylan Dog’s first story illustrated by Stano, released in October 1986, features a graphic style inspired by that of the painter Egon Schiele. With n. 42, Stano replaces Claudio Villa also in the realization of the book covers, a task which he still carries out today. (Red)
