May 5 – It’s a “long love affair” (to quote the title of one of his most beautiful songs) between Gino Paoli and music, a love affair that after more than fifty years is still alive and well. The Genoese singer-songwriter received the IV Premio La Mar de Músicas, dedicated to the great songwriters of the twentieth century. This international recognition goes to the Italian artist for his career, for his ability to capture through his compositions Italian and Mediterranean culture, attesting to the universality of his songs and his influence in the contemporary music scene, especially during the decades of the 1960s and 1970s. Paoli will be handed the award on July 20 at the Auditorium La Batel of Cartagena during the twenty-first edition of the festival La Mar de Músicas (held in the Spanish city July 17-25). For the occasion, he will perform in a concert accompanied by Danilo Rea and Silvia Perez Cruz. The event takes place at the same time as Paoli’s “Due come noi che …” tour, which takes him with Danilo Rea in Italy and abroad. (Red)
