Lisbon – “Right now, we have to stem this humanitarian catastrophe, and the entire national system must work together to support our immediate priorities, which are to save lives at sea; establish equity and solidarity sharing mechanisms to ensure hospitality to the refugees; and fight the traffickers in a manner respectful of international law. We also need to make efforts for the longer term, to favor a gradual solution of the crises and conflicts that are causing this wave, including in Libya.” The President of the Senate, Pietro Grasso, is in Lisbon for the Summit of Presidents of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Union for the Mediterranean. Today, he will meet the Portuguese Deputy Prime Minister, Paulo Portas. (9colonne)
