Taipei – Taiwan is a market of 23 million consumers who hold a third of Asia’s purchasing power. Trade between Italy and Taiwan in 2014 amounted to more than $4 billion with a market share of 0.7%. The data emerges from a seminar and workshop on extra virgin olive oil organized by the Italian Trade Agency in Taiwan in collaboration with Unaprol, the Italian olive oil consortium. The ITA-Unaprol seminar, attended by one hundred journalists, opinion leaders, Taiwan authorities, restaurateurs and importers also indicated that the olive oil market in Taiwan is expanding and diversifying thanks to consumer demand oriented towards organic and high quality products.
