29 June, 2015 – Emilia Romagna and Serbia strengthen their cooperation activities, especially when it comes to children. Emilia Romagna helped Serbia set up the best youth center in the country. It is located in Loznica, in the northwest of the country, on the border with Bosnia and Herzegovina. The center – established within the “program minors Serbia” – is a place for social protection, which guarantees legal and psychological assistance, where also Italian, English and other foreign languages are taught. With more than 7000 admissions per year, Loznica is the center with the highest numbers of participation. The project saw the renovation of 300 square meters, and the elimination of architectural barriers. The center has become a place of social gathering, work, and opportunity for those who want to study the arts (theater, dance…) All this in a complex environment, with difficult economic conditions. For its humanitarian efforts, especially in favor of children and young people, the Academy of Loznica decided to reward the Emilia Romagna with a meeting attended by the Minister of Justice of the Republic of Serbia Nikola Selakovic and the Italian Ambassador Giuseppe Manzo. Every year, Loznica rewards those particularly meritorious individuals who distinguished themselves for meaningful activities. This year, it was the Italian Region. For the occasion, the Teatro Due Mondi ERT Faenza created a theater workshop, culminating in a street show, which involved about seventy students from primary and middle schools in Loznica. The underlying theme of the experience was peace and tolerance. Next week, a troupe from “Mreza”, a TV investigative and analytical program from RTS (Radio-Televizija Srbije, the national radio and television), will be in Emilia-Romagna to film social services and regional excellences on welfare and theater.
