June 30, 2015 – Valpolicella is in Asia, specifically in China and Taiwan. A group of companies want to strengthen the presence of Valpolicella wines on the market and develop new business opportunities. The mission, which will continue until July 4, will take the companies to Shanghai and Taipei, where they will offer tastings and workshops to traders, importers and the local media. The goal is to highlight the quality and variety of Valpolicella red wines, and their potential when combined with local cuisine. “China and Taiwan – said the director of the Consortium, Olga Bussinello – are key markets for different reasons. China has become an imperative reality for Italian wines, but our export market share still lulls at 7%. Even for Amarone, of which 80% of production is exported, sees only 5% of the non-EU export shares reach China. Taiwan, on the other hand, represents a potential market for Italian wine in the Pacific and we’re willing to bet on it.” (Cle)
