Ramallah – Medical and biological sciences, Biotechnologies, Human Sciences, and Cultural heritage are the scientific collaboration fields between Italy and Palestine identified in the Memorandum of Understanding signed recently in Ramallah by the Italian Minister of Education, University and Research, Stefania Giannini, and her counterpart Khawla Shakhshir, at the meeting of the Joint Ministerial Committee chaired by the foreign ministers of the two countries. The partnership will be implemented through the Italian National Research Council and the Palestinian Scientific Research Council. “Our two countries – said Giannini – already have a strong partnership, so we won’t have to start from scratch. But we need to develop the interaction between our research institutions and create the basis for a strong bilateral cooperation that will last over time.” To strengthen cooperation, Minister Giannini identified various elements, including “student and researcher mobility, exploiting the potential of the Erasmus +, the study of Italian in Palestinian universities, and the exchange of best practices among technical institutions focused tourism and agriculture.” (9Colonne)
