Barcelona – A study discovered how to apply the laws of thermodynamics to physical systems in which elementary constituents interact with “long-range” forces, such as electric or gravitational force. The study, published in Physical Review Letters, saw the University of Florence contribute. Lapo Casetti and Stefano Ruffo of the Department of Physics and Astronomy worked alongside researchers at the University of Barcelona’s Institute of Health and the National Institute of Nuclear Physics (INFN) of Rome.
