Khartoum – The United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) has welcomes the contribution of the Italian Government in support of the South Sudanese affected by the domestic conflict, who have fled to Sudan. The WFP will use the €500.000 contribution (about $545,000) to provide food assistance for about three months to more than 13,000 South Sudanese who sought refuge in two locations of South Kordofan, Sudan. The WFP food basket includes sorghum – a staple food in Sudan – as well as beans, oil and salt. “Italy is at the forefront in supporting vulnerable people in Sudan. Our mission is to help people in need, and the WFP has been proved to be a reliable partner,” explained the Italian Ambassador to Sudan, Fabrizio Lobasso. (9Colonne)
