22 July, 2015 – One hundred candles for AgustaWestland, the Italian company that this year celebrates a century of business in the UK and one hundred years of cooperation and support to the British Armed Forces. At a ceremony in London’s Mall Galleries, Mauro Moretti, CEO and general manager of Finmeccanica, welcomed many institutional and industry representatives, including the Minister of Defense, Michael Fallon. According to Fallon, the anniversary “is a hundred years of extraordinary contribution to Somerset, the United Kingdom and to our Armed Forces. During the First World War, the UK received the famous Vickers Vimy and DeHavilland aircrafts that opposed the German forces in Europe, and today AgustaWestland provides some of the most advanced helicopters in the world such as Merlin and Wildcat.” Moretti expressed his “deepest appreciation for the fruitful spirit of cooperation that characterized relations between AgustaWestland and the British government, a key factor in the achievement of many prestigious goals in terms of technology and business.”
