31 July, 2015 – “In my verses there is a lot daily life, often a heavy burden, with no escape possible, or when it is, espace clashes with the just as strong and vital desire to not lose one’s ability to recognize oneself in every day objects, people and love. My poems are my daily life, with their retinue of doubts and questions, lies, love, hope, and certainties.” Emilio Coco is an Italian poet, translator, and Hispanist. He will be the special guest of the Festival of Poetry ” Las Líneas de su mano 8″ scheduled in Bogota Sept. 1-4. The event is sponsored also by the Italian Institute of Culture in Bogota in collaboration with Gimnasio Moderno. The lecture series will take place at the Library of Los Fundadores of the Gimnasio Moderno (Carrera 9 N ° 74-99). Coco published several collections of poems including “Il tardo amore”, “Il dono della notte”, “Ascoltami o signore”. He also won several awards: “Annibal Caro”, “Torri di Quartesolo”, “Proa” a la Trayectoria Poética, e and the Jury Prize “Alda Merini”. His poems have been translated into English, Spanish, Portuguese, Galician, French, Hungarian, Turkish, Lithuanian, Corsican, and Arabic, and his works have been included in several anthologies of Italian and foreign poetry. “As a poet – says Cocco – I always felt more Spanish than Italian: I owe a lot to the Spanish poets and the musicality of their verses. Luis Alberto de Cuenca and Eloy Sanchez Rosillo are the ones that most influenced me with their ‘clear line’ poetic, with their diaphanous and readability.”
