Laayoune – The Basilicata Region, specifically the municipality of Rivello, in the province of Potenza, is ready to host eight Saharawi children. This is the second consecutive year that the Auser Rivello Association, in collaboration with the National Auser Association, the City of Rivello, and families and groups of volunteers, welcome for the summer Saharawi girls and boys. This year the eight children will be accompanied by two adults, and will stay in Rivello until August 23. They will stay in the former elementary school, made available and equipped for the occasion by the Municipality. The project wants to raise awareness of host communities of the serious problems the Saharawi people everyday; but it also wants to take children away for a short period of time from the extreme weather conditions they usually live in, assuring they receive adequate medical checks as well as rich and varied diets, and offering them the opportunity to make new friends.
