5 August, 2015 – “Armed” only with his photocamera, Alfonso Carrara toured Italy in the 1940s to record in photographs the damages caused by the war on towns and villages, as the last German soldiers were leaving the country. The Italian photographer was able to document everything he saw around him: suffering people, destroyed buildings… capturing the drama of an entire era in every shot. His photos will be on display in New York September 1-29 at the headquarters of the Italian Cultural Institute. The exhibition is organized by the Institute in collaboration with the Italian Cultural Institute of San Francisco, which hosted the exhibition until 31 July.
