Buenos Aires – The XV International Biennial of Architecture in Buenos Aires and the Italian Cultural Institute of Buenos Aires have bestowed an important award upon the University of Palermo. They have invited Professor Maurizio Carta, Professor of Urban Planning within the Department of Architecture, and Chairman of Polytechnic School, to represent Italian architecture and urban planning in the Magisterial Conference to be held in Buenos Aires September 8-11 as part of the activities to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the Biennale. Carta will present his research on creative regeneration of urban waterfronts, comparing experiences and experiments with scholars of other nations that have worked in the same field. In particular, as part of the research conducted at the Department of Architecture, Professor Carta developed innovative methods and design experiments, summarized in the “paradigm of the fluid city”, tested in an international cooperation project between Italy and Malta, and applied for the first time in the urban plan for the regeneration of Palermo’s waterfront that will be shown and discussed at the Biennale.
