Tehran – The Ministry of Economic Development, together with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Italian Trade Agency, Confindustria ABI and Unioncamere, is organizing a mission to Iran. The initiative stems from the signing of the Iranian nuclear deal, which relaxed sanctions against the Middle Eastern country. The mission, which will be led by the Deputy Minister for Economic Development Carlo Calenda, follows the one by Ministers Federica Guidi and Paolo Gentiloni. The mission will begin in Tehran on November 28 with the Bilateral Economic Forum in the presence of representatives from the countries’ main institutions; and on November 30, there will be a series of in-depth sessions with ministries and companies. After years of isolation, the Iranian economic system is accessible to the West and international trade once again: with this initiative the Italian industrial system is introducing itself to the Iranian government and businesses. The goal is to recover the market share lost over time due to the sanctions imposed against the regime. The mission, which is preparing for the participation of over a hundred companies and banks, will focus on sectors that are of strategic importance for Iran: environment and renewable energy, mechanical engineering, the medical industry, building materials and automotive.
