September 23rd, 2015 – Learning how to say “arrivederci,” “sbohem”, “καλημέρα ‘” and “bonjour”, “kiitos” and “danke”, “por favor” and “Va rugăm să” all in a single day. This is the European Day of Languages, during which mini language lessons will be accompanied by music, dance and good food. On Saturday, September 26 (between 2pm and 7.30pm), the Centro Galego Lisbon celebrates the annual edition of the European Day of Languages with the Italian Institute of Culture and other cultural institutes and embassies in the EUNIC Portugal Network, with the support of the Portuguese Representation of the European Commission. The Italian Institute of Culture – confirms a statement – for the occasion will offer the audience a concert of Italian music with the duo Elisa Costanzo (vocals) and Alessandro Micantonio (guitar). Between 2pm and 7.30pm, there will be a linguistic and cultural program with free admission for the whole family and for every taste. Participants will attend mini-lessons in Italian, French, Finnish, Greek, Romanian, Spanish and German, starting at 2:30pm and repeated every half hour, interspersed with tasty appetizers for those who want to learn about European languages through culinary traditions. For the younger participants, there are many creative activities, such as a reading to the stories by poet Lauren Mendinueta, told in Portuguese, and an illustration workshop with Danuta Wojciechowska. After a marathon of short films from Portugal, France and Austria, there will also be a workshop on Czech choral singing, and an exhibition on the French region of Lorraine, as well as a brief lesson on flamenco and the traditional Romanian dance.
