Brussels – Counter admiral Stefano Barbieri is the new commander of the European naval operation Atalanta, the anti-piracy mission in the Horn of Africa. Barbieri, appointed by the Political and Security Committee of the European Union, will relieve on 6 October the Spanish Alfonso Gomez Fernandez de Cordoba, in office since May 6th. (9Colonne)
